The Rise of a Counterfeit Christianity: Wolves in “Based” Clothing
Pastor Michael V.D. Gobel Sr. Minister of Faith | Advocate for Truth | Servant of Christ
INTRODUCTION
We are living in a time of growing confusion and deception. While the Church should be a pillar of truth in a crumbling world, what we are seeing instead is an alarming trend — Christians, particularly young men, being lured into a so-called “based” Christianity that has all the outward appearance of strength, courage, and rebellion against godless culture, but inwardly is rotten with heresy, paganism, and demonic influence.
This is not merely a fringe phenomenon. It is a spiritual crisis. And it is time we speak plainly.
“Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons.” — 1 Timothy 4:1
I decided to write this article after reading a rather interesting post by another, what I believe to be a “Watchmen” of the true Christian faith
, and a person who speaks not only truth but says it with conviction and honesty about the false expressions and information that is been shared and posted on social media and other platforms. These influencers who pose as false Christian brothers often begin by pointing out legitimate cultural concerns — anti-Christian sentiment, the breakdown of traditional values, the erosion of the family, and anti-white rhetoric. But once they gain trust, they introduce poisonous doctrines: “blood memory,” “ancestral wisdom,” as highlighted by Biblical Man and twisted ethnic nationalism that elevates race and heritage above the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Some go so far as to call Yahweh a “parasite god” and praise Hitler as a divine avatar. Let that sink in. (As referenced by Biblical Man on Substack)
These are not Christians. These are pagans using Christian language as a disguise. And those following them are in danger of falling into a spiritual trap so dark that they may find themselves fighting against the Lamb while thinking they’re saving civilization (Revelation 17:14).
Hollywood’s Role in Twisting the Image of God
For decades, Hollywood and mainstream media have portrayed God not as He reveals Himself in Scripture, but as either a cruel tyrant, a senile old man, or a distant, indifferent force. Movies mock His holiness, blaspheme His name, and exalt the powers of darkness in entertainment marketed to children.
“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness.” — Isaiah 5:20
Through this relentless media indoctrination, society — including many within the Church, I might add — has subconsciously absorbed a false image of God. Instead of the righteous Judge, merciful Saviour, and sovereign King, people now imagine a god who is either a cosmic oppressor or a vague spiritual idea to be replaced by ancestral spirits or so-called “bloodline gods.”
This is the groundwork Satan has laid for years. And now, the next phase is unfolding before our very eyes.
False Christianity: The Devil’s New Costume
Satan doesn’t always attack with horns and fire. More often, he comes wearing a cross and quoting Scripture out of context.
“For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.”
— 2 Corinthians 11:13–14
This new movement of pseudo-Christian influencers is exactly that: Satan’s ministers cloaked in cultural rebellion, appealing to masculine virtue and heritage, but denying the Cross. Their message does not lead to repentance, humility, holiness, or reverence for God — it leads to pride, elitism, ethnic supremacy, and ultimately idolatry.
When you replace Jesus Christ with bloodlines, when you elevate the nation above the Kingdom, when you see Yahweh as the enemy and your heritage as the saviour, you are not a Christian. You are an idolater.
“They exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator.” — Romans 1:25
The Pipeline to Apostasy and Revelation 17: The Beast’s Army
One brother rightly noted how this movement leads many to the place described in Revelation 17:16 — where those who think they’re fighting for righteousness actually join hands with the Beast and wage war against the true Church.
“These will hate the harlot… and burn her with fire.” — Revelation 17:16
This is the fate of “apostate religion” — false Christianity consumed by the very forces it joined with. What begins as cultural resistance ends in spiritual destruction. What begins as reclaiming masculinity ends in rebellion against Christ.
The True Gospel Has No Room for Idols
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is not about race, bloodlines, or heritage. It is about a new creation in Christ, purchased by His blood, not ours. It is about our inheritance in and through Christ. Our God is not a God of division, segregation or separation, He is a God of unity, fellowship and love. But don’t mistake that LOVE to mean that we must embrace other pagan gods or sit around the fire and perform demonic or satanic rituals or worship foreign gods in the name of inclusion or freedom of expression.
“There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” — Galatians 3:28
To follow Christ is to deny yourself, not exalt your ancestors. It is to carry a cross, not wave a tribal banner. It is to worship the Lamb, not glorify national or racial identities. Any movement that does otherwise is not of God, no matter how “based,” “bold,” or “anti-woke” it claims to be.
A Call to the Watchmen and the Remnant
This is a cry to the Church (body of Christ) today; this is not the time to remain silent. This is not the hour for neutrality. The line is being drawn, and many are already falling into delusion.
“Blow the trumpet in Zion… let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; for the day of the Lord is coming, it is near.” — Joel 2:1
We must call this deception for what it is: Satanic. We must expose it (Ephesians 5:11), teach sound doctrine (Titus 2:1), and call the wayward to repentance while there is still time.
Let us not be deceived by wolves in sheep’s clothing or silenced by the fear of man. The Kingdom of God is not of this world, and neither are we (John 18:36). Let us stand, speak, and contend for the faith once delivered to the saints (Jude 1:3).
“Choose this day whom you will serve… But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” — Joshua 24:15
Standing Firm in Truth: A Call to God’s True Children
In a world polluted by deception, where false influencers twist Scripture and media mocks the character of God, true believers must arise—not with fear, but with unwavering conviction. We are not called to blend in, but to stand apart, as "a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people" (1 Peter 2:9).
To avoid falling into the traps of false doctrine and cultural manipulation, God’s children must abide daily in His Word. Jesus said plainly, "If you continue in My word, then are ye My disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:31–32). Freedom from deception is not found in clever influencers, but in the revealed truth of God’s holy Word.
We must test every spirit (1 John 4:1), cling to sound doctrine (2 Timothy 4:3–4) and renew our minds by rejecting the ways of the world (Romans 12:2). This means actively rejecting Hollywood’s distortions, worldly ideologies, and anti-God rhetoric. It also means guarding our hearts and homes from content that mocks holiness and glorifies sin.
Yet our role is not only defensive—we are called to be light in the darkness. We carry the hope of the Gospel, the message of reconciliation through Christ Jesus. “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). The world is broken, but the Good News of Christ heals. Let us not grow silent.
Speak life, share truth, and love boldly. In a time of counterfeit light and false saviours, let your life and lips reflect the true Light of the World—Jesus Christ.
If this article has stirred something within you — if your eyes are being opened — then do not delay. Get back to the Word. Get back to the Cross. And call others back while it is still called “today” (Hebrews 3:13).
The time for silence is over. Let the remnant arise.
With urgency and in Truth,
Pastor Michael V.D. Gobel Sr.

My Prayer is that many people - especially our young people (who in today's day and age are being misled by 'false preachings' via various YouTube channels etc, that doesn't stem directly from the Word of God) , will read these messages from Pastor Michael Gobel on Planting Hope Foundation and be drawn to want to know more.
