A Personal Message from Pastor Michael
Greetings to all my fellow Substackers, as well as to my family and friends who have joined my channel on Substack. As a new Substacker to this platform, I would like to encourage you to consider the quality of writing and the depth of Christian content from many of my fellow Substackers, particularly when it comes to biblical teaching, inspirational content, and doctrinal interpretation.
I honestly underestimated the true value of such form of communication and resources, especially in comparison to other more secular and liberal social media applications and platforms that can so easily distract and even wrongfully influence or indoctrinate the viewer and reader in believing much of the false narratives and doctrines that are being promoted and published on those sites and platforms.
If I may, I would sincerely recommend that you visit some of these great writers and content providers, such as
; ; to name but a few.One of these inspirational writers (and as I said, there are many) who caught my attention was
. He recently posted the sad announcement of the passing of Phil Robertson, a true American legend and patriot of what America once, and hopefully will soon again, stand for in terms of - God, Family, Freedom, and Liberty. May God bless Phil’s family during this difficult time, and may his soul rest in peace. That said, what Biblical Man said in his posting on Phil Robertson and his family’s authenticity was so profound that it shocked me when l read the raw truth of his statement. This is the type of Truth that we do not hear or see in the mainstream media and on other platforms anymore. Hence, when we read such genuine honesty or see such transparency to the reality of where the world finds itself in terms of ungodly principles and the lack of biblical values, and that includes l might add the sometimes wayward teaching and preaching that come from the more traditional churches and denominations, then it makes one stop and wonder when and how is this world ever going to learn from their mistakes?
In Remembrance of Phil Robertson (a Godly man)
In my recent book, I wrote called Mending Hearts, Transforming Lives, l wrote in Chapter 2 on this precise topic, which I entitled "The Beginning of Godly Wisdom." If l may, just for a moment, quote you some of my thoughts that went into the writing of that Chapter, on why the world is more interested today in secular profanities and lustful images than in anything related to godliness and holiness.
When l think back to when l first saw Phil Robertson on YouTube and knew that this was a man with genuine godly values and principles in life but that many would reject his advice and humble spirit because he didn't necessarily look the part or fit into the image or mould of what many would have wanted him to be, yet when he spoke, he spoke with an honesty and sincerity that touched your heart no matter where in the world you came from. This, in my opinion, was the hallmark of a Godly man.
We need God-fearing, Spirit-led Leaders
In today's world, more than ever before, we need strong God-fearing leaders who can offer genuine solutions to society's challenges. As someone once said, “…we are entering a period in history where the issues we face cannot be resolved at the same level on which they were created.”
This suggests that solving our ‘natural’ problems will require a ‘supernatural intervention.’ God is calling on Godly believers into leadership roles in various spheres of government and the private sector, such as business, trade and industry, ministry, education, and many other areas of influence. It’s time for believers to demonstrate Godly wisdom so that the Christian perspective, values, and principles can be recognized and restored to their former glory.
We are meant to be problem-solvers, especially when it comes to offering solutions to the secular world’s most complex issues that include solving geopolitical problems, unnecessary conflicts based on religious, racial, and cultural intolerance and yes, even bringing the modern-day church back to where God wants it to be.
Seeking global peace through strength and tackling some of the more serious issues relating to the wrongful and ungodly influences of the WOKE culture on our youth and the ridiculous support of the LGBTQ+ movement by certain denominational churches are just some of the issues we need to stand up too and speak out on or else our trust and faith in the Lord will be useless and of no value to a world that is desperate for the Truth.
But sadly, many of our faith-based institutions have stayed silent on these problems and many other more serious issues that plague our communities such as gender-based violence, human trafficking, mental health and wellness, drug addiction, substance abuse, teenage pregnancy, divorce, and bringing back honour, respect, and Godly purpose into the corridors of our educational institutions. These are the real issues that we as Christians need to face and address.
The Source of our Knowledge must come from God
We cannot shy away from these topics, nor can we, or should we stay silent on the severity of the indoctrination and manipulation by liberal bodies and entities that wish to make us believe that if or when we don’t offer our sympathy towards such ungodly beliefs or behaviour that we are the ‘crazy’ ones or the radical extremists. If being radical means believing in the Word of God and abiding by the principles and laws of God, then call me whatever you wish, we cannot and should not compromise the doctrines and principles of God’s Word.
We, as children of God, were created not to avoid problems but to confront them, as we have access to the answers through God's Wisdom – the ‘Living’ Word of God. The Bible tells us, "Wisdom is the principal thing" (Proverbs 4:7). We shouldn’t be calling out to God only in times of trouble, we should be in direct communication with God through His Word ‘all of the time,’ so that when trouble comes, we will be ‘ready and able’ to put on the full armour of God and face the devil and his demons head-on.
Every challenge we face requires ‘Godly wisdom’ to overcome. While ‘human wisdom’ often arises from intellect or experience, the Bible teaches in Ephesians 3:10 (NKJV) that the body of Christ will operate with "the manifold wisdom of God," a wisdom that surpasses all human understanding. This divine wisdom will elevate the body of Christ to a place of prominence in the world.
However, accessing this wisdom requires us to be ‘deeply connected’ to the mind of Christ, which comes from immersing ourselves in God’s Word and gaining divine insight and revelation from His Word. Once we tap into this Source of Godly wisdom, what once seemed impossible will become possible. Unanswered questions will find answers, and human doubt and fear will be replaced with a deep sense of understanding and revelation of God's Word and His will.
When I first realised while still in prison that God had a greater purpose and plan for my life than what I was trying to accomplish in my own strength and sadly I must admit, I failed miserably at trying to do it my way, I began to focus on what I knew would draw me closer to God. I started reading God’s Word daily. I would often get convicted when I did something wrong, and so found myself having to repent daily of my sin and human weaknesses and shortcomings.
I then started speaking to God in a way I had never done before. Before truly surrendering my whole life to Christ, and becoming His disciple, I saw prayer as an element of faith that required repetitive one-way communication with God, and rarely must I admit did I even consider stopping to listen to what God had to say or believing that He would even answer my prayers.
I never truly understood what it meant to put on the full armour of God when having to deal with my earthly struggles and painful emotional, psychological and physiological battles with the sin of the flesh and other obsessions. I didn’t understand that these were avenues that the devil was using to infiltrate my life and prevent me from willingly surrendering my whole life to God.
It was only after I began to study God’s Word and effectively communicate with God through daily prayer and supplication that I began to see the true meaning and power of Godly wisdom and the understanding of the relevance of His Word in our everyday situations in life. It all began to make sense when I was faced with this passage of Scripture from the Book of Ephesians, in which it says:
”And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— 19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.” – Ephesians 6:17-20 (NKJV)
If you seek answers to life and your inheritance in Christ, look no further than “The Lord’s Prayer,” which holds the key to everything we have ever wanted or needed.
”Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.” – Matthew 6:9-13 (NKJV)
May this notice bring you much blessing, and may this platform and all who participate in it be blessed.
In God’s service,
Pastor Michael V.D. Gobel Sr.
